What is freeview ?

It is the new, free digital service providing over 30 free digital TV channels, over 20 digital radio stations plus a new whole world of interactive services. It’s broadcast from transmitters and received via a rooftop aerial.            It works like traditional TV but because the signals are Digital you need an box to convert them (or a new Digital TV with all the technology in a box already built-in). This means more channels can be transmitted with extra features such as interactivity and widescreen pictures.

The great thing is that FREEVIEW really has made it easy to enjoy more TV choice.
Boxes are compact and connect simply to your existing TV. You make just one payment from around £50 for your box and remember it's yours to keep. Boxes are produced by a number of manufacturers and we keep a selection that we can install when upgrading your aerial. We recommend that you think carefully about the box you decide to purchase  & don't just buy the cheapest as they do vary in the way that they work & what you can receive.

Alternatively, if you're thinking of buying a new TV, you can now get a Digital TV from brands liks Philips, Panasonic, Sharp, Sony and Toshiba with a box already built-in. With everything integrated into one TV there's less wiring and only one remote and you can enjoy the full benefits of widescreen programmes. Ask your retailer about Digital TVs and other integrated products.

FREEVIEW is marketed by DTV Services Ltd which is a company run by its three shareholders the BBC, Crown Castle International and BSkyB.

DTV Services Ltd has been established to promote FREEVIEW by utilising the complementary skills and expertise of the BBC, Crown Castle International and BSkyB respectively.
